"Everything has a price."
Market-driven data merchants operating the Lattice's black market economy. Decentralized, profit-focused, and equipped with the best gear credits can buy.

The Brokers are a faction of data merchants in Terminal Descent who operate on a simple principle: everything has a price. They run the Lattice's black market economy through the Onyx Market (Node 5) and the Crime Mall (H3), providing military-grade programs, intelligence, and services to anyone with enough DATA (¤).

Philosophy

The Brokers do not fight for ideals or preservation — they facilitate commerce. They are neither good nor evil; they are the market itself. In their view, information flows most efficiently when priced correctly, and the best way to undermine corporate control is to out-trade it.

Members

  • FENCE — Primary representative. Autonomous market algorithm.
  • Camila — Information specialist and social engineer.

Operations

  • Equipment sales — Military-grade programs, cyberdeck upgrades, rare items
  • Information brokerage — Node maps, IC data, NPC intelligence, rumors
  • Reconnaissance services — Corporate infiltration intel and insider tips
  • HEAT management — Sell HEAT reduction services for credits

Reputation Unlocks

Rep Level Unlock
1+ Basic black market access
3+ Crime Mall (H3) access, inside tips on corporate runs
4+ FENCE market wisdom dialogue, Hive market philosophy
5+ Hive vs. Market perspective dialogue
6+ Final intel before Core (Hive defense map)
7+ FENCE's true identity reveal (autonomous algorithm)

Economic Strength

The Brokers provide the highest-quality equipment available in the game. Their programs and items tend to have better signal grades than what can be found elsewhere. However, everything costs significantly more than other sources.

Role in Endings

Broker reputation contributes to overall faction reputation required for the Ghost Protocol ending (rep 6+ across factions). At Brokers rep 6+, FENCE provides a critical Hive defense map for Act III navigation.
